I’ve been thinking about doing a blog for a long time, but wasn’t sure if I’d have the time and discipline to update it as often as it should be. But then I realized that I was looking at it all wrong. Who is this blog for? My millions of adoring fans who hang on my every word, waiting for the next insight like a starving man hopes for a crust of bread? Riiiight.
I understand where that anxiety came from. I blogged for Circuit City for a couple years, and if you don’t offer your readers a consistent stream of new material, you’ll lose them. The pressure to get fresh material up regularly is pretty intense, and you live and die by the readership stats.
But this is gonna be different. Every so often I think of something I want to explore further through writing--it’s how I firm up loose thoughts that rattle around my brain. Based on the things that pass in front of the picture window of my mind, most blogs will fall into one of three buckets:
1. My weight-- a constant struggle and a significant portion of my identity
2. Politics--I’m no Political Science professor, but I try to stay up on current events and really enjoy hating on hypocrites--who usually happen to be conservatives.
3. Personal stuff--Some of this will be fit to print and some won’t. I think about my marriage a lot, and my job. I prefer my marriage.
So, if you’re reading this, and you look forward to seeing what I have to say, I hope you’re patient. Then again, if you’re interested in what I have to say, you probably don’t have a lot going on.
